I already ordered dv4t but I'm still not sure whether I made a right decision or not. I've come to try configuring dv5t and I'm weighing little bit towards dv5t now than dv4t. It seems like it will be too late to reconfigure dv4t (earliest shipping date is 8/18).

    So...

    DV5T with Core 2 Duo T9400 (more cache 6mb vs 3mb), 512MB GeForce 9600M GT, 160GB 7200 RPM HD

    or

DV4T with Core 2 Duo P8600 (more battery life), 256MB GeForce 9200GS, Blu-Ray ROM, Mobility (14 inch screen).

    1) Which one would you choose?

    2) What if I were to cancel my current dv4t order and order dv5t, do I call HP to cancel it? How does cancelling order works?

BTW, I placed order on dv4t yesterday.. it says 'Order dropped to factory
(Estimated to ship on August 11, 2008)' on Order Status page.

Dv5t much better then dv4t, you should try to change a order, contact to coustumer care service or any help line of HP.

To me, I think the most concerned part is about the size and mobility. I'm really beginning to question why I selected Blu-Ray option in the first place.

Is it easy to cancel order and reorder dv5t?

There's about 1 hour and half left till they're open, but in the meantime, I would like to know your opinion.

Why are you saying that? Just wondering, is it because it has a worse graphics card or maybe something I don't know about? (Debating on buying a dv4).

There's a huge difference in the video cards in those two configurations. The video card for the DV5T that you have selected is way more powerful. If you are a gamer, the DV5T configuration would be a lot more suitable.

I'm using my iPod touch to type it, so I can't write much.
But, you can't cancel your order once it is dropped to a factory
You should receive it and return it back to HP for a refund
Also, it all depends on you
Do you really play graphic-intensive games?
    Do you really need mobility?

I'm not a heavy gamer and I don't really play high graphical games at the moment (the games I'm playing now are Age of Empire III and NBA Live 08.. - it was able to run smoothly on nVidia Go 7400 at max setting).

I plan to play Starcraft II and Diablo III once it comes out..

but other than that, I'll be mostly using this for college, photoshop, video encoding, entertainment purpose (mostly video watching).

I'm a computer science major btw.

This is really starting to get frustrating.. haha.

Circuit City has dv4t in stock now. Unfortunately, out of stock in my state.

I'm thinking of swapping with 7200RPM HD, but then, that becomes too expensive. Idk still weighing ideas.

Looks like a nice size. In my opinion, dv5z looked little too big when I saw them at Best Buy.

I think this is only big image avail of dv4t besides the one in HP microsite.

I noticed HP has a network printer deal for $18.99 ($80 instant rebate) with the purchase of new laptop. Would I be able to get that deal along with current dv4t or do I have to place new order?

I just turned on my computer.. I can't sleep!!!

Well, here's what I would think about.

Do you think you will carry your laptop around with you very frequently?
If you do, go with dv4t. If you don't, I think you can go with dv5t.

Do you think a 15.4-inch laptop is too big for you? Then, go with dv4t.

Do you really need the performance of 9600M GT? As I mentioned in the dv4t thread, Blizzard is pretty good at making system requirements as low as possible. Both games will not be DirectX 10-exclusive games as Blizzard said, so I think they should be playable on dv4t, too. However, I can't guarantee that either Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3 can be played smoothly on dv4t because we don't know anything about the system requirements yet.

Regarding the printer..... well... just call HP and check.. :)

I think I'm obsessed with small laptops because I had Vaio SZ450N (which is freakshly small and thin.. also nice design).

And about Blu-ray.. I don't know. I think I would go with dv4t if it had 7200RPM options instead of me paying extra grand to get one.

I usually don't play a lot of games anyway but I guess I would be start looking to play. I was one of the early adapters for Starcraft I back in the day... big fan.

I don't know if you read this before (I just googled it for a sec) This is the spec for SC II.

Personnally I choosed the dv4 for the mobility. It's much better if you want to bring your laptop often.
I've already a 15.4" (from Dell) and it's a little bit too heavy and big.
    That's why I chossed a 14". I think it's a great compromise between mobility and performance.

    Otherwise, you can take a dv5 ;)
