I can't seem to find the Quick Launch Button software on HP's website, all I found is the QLB Critical Security Update. Even after installing that, the Quick Play and the DVD touch sensitive buttons don't work. Can anyone provide me with a link to download the software?

The current version of the HP Quick Launch Buttons software is 6.40 E, and can be downloaded by using the link below.

    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39001-39500/sp39260.exe

More information is located here. Even though HP released it for the Mini-Note, this software works on all other notebooks too.

The QLB software should also be in your C:\SETUP\QLB folder. It should also be available in the 'Software and Drivers Download' section for your notebook under Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices. For my DV6775US notebook it is:

    » HP Quick Launch Buttons

    12-2007 6.40 B - 19.65M

If after installing the QLB software your QuickPlay or DVD buttons still don't work you may have to reinstall the QPW (QuickPlay Windows) software. Download from the Software and Drivers Download page for your notebook or reinstall from your C:\SETUP\QPW folder. If your QuickPlay is not functioning as it should it also affects the function of those two buttons.

Oh, I almost forgot. If none of the above work you may have a problem with the ribbon cable connection to those buttons. Hopefully that is not the problem but you can find more information if you do a search on QuickPlay button, etc.

Wow, thank you, that really is a through solution. But I just reinstalled windows without backing up my SwSetup folder in the C drive, so I have to download them all from scratch. But still, thanks.

This is weird. The HP page for my notebook still shows 6.40B as the latest drivers available. Is 6.40E only for specific notebooks??

The HP Quick Launch Buttons, AFAIK, is not really notebook-specific. Version 6.40 E is installed on my dv6500t and I am not experiencing any problems with it. If you have a previous version, the installation wizard detects it and will update over it.

HP is lazy, and doesn't bother updating the driver download pages except if they have to put new drivers up for a new model or if it is of urgent importance. Other examples include how HP Help and Support and Active Support Library are more outdated on some driver pages than others. (HP Help and Support's currently version is 2.0.9.0, not 1.5.1.0. Active Support Library's current version is 3.01.4.1 A, not 2.03.0.2.)
