Hi I just swapped out my Hp Pavillion due to the High Pitched noise issues posted in other threads. Anyway I got HP to send me a new / upgraded laptop for free because of my inconvenience. I have a quick question regarding the quick play buttons. I am using a Dv6700t laptop.
To begin I rebooted my system with Windows Vista Ultimated and deleted the recovery partition of the hard drive. Upon doing this I installed all of the quick player drivers / software. Once this was all taken care of I noticed that the buttons were completely functioning however the light for the mute button no longer turns to orange once muted. When the computer is booting up it changes to orange for half a second and then reverts back to blue. I also noticed that the buttons no longer beep. I was told by another forum member to check the option in the bios which to my surprise was enabled... Does anyone have any ideas. I reformatted my original DV6000 Pavillion the same way and never had this issue.....

My guess is to download and (re)install the latest version of QuickPlay.

Tried that, reinstalling the drivers and software... No luck though. Thanks for the reply though!!

The mute button (amber/orange light) is controlled by the conextant audio drivers and not by quickplay or QLaunch drivers .
Ive helped a previous member fix this exact problem:

hmmm I installed the drivers you're speaking of through Windows Update. I guess I will try them again thanks!

Ok I installed another driver package and got the light working. Still no luck with the beeping though. It is enabled in the bios....

This is very odd, can anyone tell me exactly what driver version I should install. I downloaded one package from HPs site which enabled the amber light. However I got a newer version of the driver from the Realtek site 1.85 I believe and then the light stopped working again.... Any ideas?

Use the drivers the laptop came with, "native drivers". They work fine

I don't have a recovery disk or recovery partition.

GCNDoug, I can probably get you the drivers. I first gotta find which ones you need. I can host the whole SWSETUP folder but that would take too much time.
Give me a couple of hours, I'll find all the drivers related to sound and the quickplay stuff, ok.
I'll PM you with the files. -
Yea almost same with me. I was trying to watch the Sopranos on my 6500t and Quickplay suddenly quit. Then it wouldnt open, I rebooted, the volume buttons dont click and the Quickplay buttons dont work.
It sounds like a lot of people have this problem. They reboot and suddenly the Quickplay buttons dont work. They try to reinstall the drivers and it does nothing. Very iffy if you ask me...
