    Hi,

I am almost finished with a clean install of Vista x64 on my dv5t. I have a question about the QuickTouch software. I installed the Quick Launch Buttons (QLB) and Quickplay (QPW). I then installed the Quick Touch Software (QTouch). All I saw during that install was the installation of a C++ runtime and that is it. What does that software actually do? I am assuming some sort of background process is running now? How do you actually uninstall it because it doesn't appear in Add/Remove?

    Thank you.

The HP QuickTouch Software provides on-screen visuals and associated sounds that are displayed and heard when adjusting the notebook volume.

    Thanks.

So the install of just a C++ runtime distribution is normal? There should have been no other notice of an install?

Also, I believe that the visuals may not work in x64 Vista. Is that correct?

I had the same geiger counter (clicking) sounds. Went to Control Panel/Programs and Features, uninstalled the Quick Touch driver, then re-installed the latest one from HP website. Now works. Also previously, the memory usage was going up to max - almost 4GB usage. Now it's steady - around 1.5GB. But as you suggest jmFightSpam, I don't get any visuals and I have x64 Vista. Not sure if that's the reason, but that is the config that I have. I do however get that clicking sound as I slide up and down the vol using the slider bar. Hope that helps others who may have had this same problem too. Bit of a disappointment when you're so excited getting a brand new computer and you gotta deal with these stupid issues straight out of the box.
