The HP dv4 and dv5 models offer a standard 6-cell battery, a High Capacity 6-cell battery and a 12-cell battery.

Is the High Capacity 6-cell physically larger than the standard 6-cell battery? Does it protrude from the bottom or back edge at all? Does it weigh more?

The 12-cell just became available, if I'm not mistaken. I remember the 12-cell on the dv6700t models- it seemed to double the weight of a standard 6-cell and it protruded from the bottom of the notebook. The back edge of notebook was jacked up an inch or so (which increased cooling efficiency, an indirect benefit). I'm assuming the new 12-cell will look and function basically the same as on that older model?

    Input is greatly appreciated!

They are physically the same size. Any increase in weight is negligible.

The 12 cell on the dv4 series does raise the back of the notebook nicely as you describe. I highly recommend it. I assume that the dv5 is the same way.
