I want a dv6z but I am afraid the new keys on the left keyboard area will throw me off while typing. Anyone have the version with the keys and what do you think about them there?

They are Horrible! I tried for a month and still couldn't get used to them being there. But there is a tiny application called " SharpKeys" Which you can download and it will change what happens when they are pressed. In my case, I just mapped them to mimic the adjacent keys(Calculator = CTRL, Printer = SHIFT etc). But they can also be disabled too using the program. It edits the registry so its not even an application that will need to run in the background. With that fixed, I find the keyboard to be quite nice to type on.

Never had a problem with it too be honest, never once accidentally click it, just depends on your level of adjustment. First day i stuggled a bit with the checklit keyboard, but after that it's been amazing to type on.

Well under the conditions you described, if you did it all over again, would you still get a dv6? And is it frustrating to use the computer even with those adjustments?

It took me about a day to get used to. I still accidentally open Outlook from time to time, but it's one of the better keyboards I've ever used from a typist's perspective, so I'm willing to overlook that.

Sure I would. And Like Kektonic said, Its one of the better keyboards by HP. With my adjustments I don't even notice the keys anymore. If I hit one - It doesn't matter because I was intending to hit the adjacent key and they both perform the same action.. I think if HP had made the keys have extra resistance and/or made them smaller then the average key there wouldn't have been an issue.
