Only thing now is getting the Quick Launch buttons to work for launching QuickPlay and a media player. The rest of the buttons work fine. The Quick Launch panel is not in Control Panel. The install for Quick Launch buttons are included. Now if someone could figure that part out.

Yeah, there's actually a newer build of the Quick Launch buttons (v6.10C) but they don't work either -- at least on Vista x64. They install fine, but no control panel.

Yes, Quickplay 2 (for Windows) will run on the newer machines -- under XP of course.

There is already an update for version 3.0. Install the new patch if you haven't already.
Can anyone confirm that if HP decided not to support partition based QP? or is it only available to machines preinstalled with Vista?

This is Quickplay for Windows ONLY -- it doesn't include the stand-alone partition creator. The HP update utility will remove your Quickplay partition altogether, if you choose to use that. They don't seem to want to support the old Quickplay partition with Vista. I haven't heard if its included on new systems or not, or if you can leave your existing Quickplay partition in place using Vista.

i find it interesting how quickplay only supports 4:3 and 16:9 ratios and not 16:10 considering that's the aspect ratio of all of their laptop screens (and all widescreen lcd monitors). i notice a slight vertical stretch because of this.

to get it to work, i replaced the following files in the quick play 3 folder with those from the quick play 2.3 folder

    setup.exe
    setup.iss
    setup.inx
    setup.ini

after doing that, run setup.exe. The title of the window will read quickplay 2.3..... but quickplay 3 should install. Just dont try updating it! It wont work....

sorry about the delay in posting the method. i wanted to be sure it worked first...

Could you upload this file and give a url?
Or does someone know where to get the 2.3 version?

    Thanks guys

No? All the drivers, including QuickPlay, are under C:\... assuming you did not delete them in the first place.

just curious if anyone with a 6-cell battery has been able to watch a 2 hour dvd in quickplay and what percentage (roughly) does it increase life from watching them under normal operation?

    It doesn't work for me.
It loads the install but directly after that i get a error msg telling me that "This software can only be installed on a system".

    Hmm, that's strange.
My installationfiles is on swedish though, i bet that's the reason the install won't go through.

Can you upload your files please?

EDIT: My bad, this actually works, i took wrong files (setup from QuickLaunch Buttons).

    Hello Everyone,
Quickplay 3.0 works ok to instant on to watch movies. I used the HP restore cds to create the original partitions, once XP was installed to the original stage I removed all the HP garbage software and updated the BIOS update for Vista, did a Vista 32 clean install on the xp partition, I did NOT try if this would work the same with an upgrade install; installed all the drivers which by the way HP started uploading since Jan 31, first and slowly added all the other drivers for vista, by now all drivers for vista 32 and 64 are available.

I forgot to mention the quickplay buttons always worked for me even when I installed xp drivers on Vista, and when installing Quickplay run setup as an ADMINISTRATOR (right clicking on setup file)

HP Pavilion DV6040ca, (DV6000) 2GB or ram, geforce GO 7200 (which works great with the mooded drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com

It is still there. I just renamed the file. My monthly bandwith is almost done. 50 gigs worth. I had almost 1000 unique visitors to my site. The reason I don't host it anywhere else, it gives me traffic.

FYI, I have Quickplay installed on my DV9260US, and it can play HD-DVD. The only thing though is currently it does not support any HD-DVD in-movie experience buttons. I'm hoping HP will release an update that can handle features other than your standard play button. Awesome resolution and film clarity is one thing, but Blu-Ray already does that too. One reason I bought HD-DVD early was to try out the bonus capabilities and interactivity. Can someone confirm if accessing the interactive features works fine on something like an Xbox360 HD-DVD?

So I installed quickplay 3.0 and it works fine but the buttons do not. In my house we have two dv6000t's and the one with vista preinstalled works fine. I had my vista upgraded and I just installed quickplay now. So how do I get the buttons to work. I understand that the option of booting without windows will not work but I would at least like to get the buttons to work???
    Thanks.

Micall5 -- sorry for the confusion. Yeah, Quicklaunch button driver is what I meant. The only thing I can think of, is have you updated to the latest BIOS version? When I did on my dv2000t, the system "found" all new devices for the quicklaunch buttons.
