My QuickPlay stopped working after only 2 days with my new dv9260us. I have attempted to uninstall it and then did a re-install using the HP Recovery Manager (after running HP Update) but it still won't work.
QuickPlay starts but when I attempt to play an HD-DVD (Press first icon) it gives me a message that QuickPlay has stopped working and Windows is looking for a solution to the problem. When QuickPlay closes the Windows taskbar disappears. I can get the taskbar back by opening QuickPlay again and clicking the Windows icon, which causes QuickPlay to close normally.
I'm pretty sure this all happened after some windows updates yesterday. 2 of the updates that I did was to the Video and Sound. I performed a driver rollback prior to re-installing QuickPlay but that didn't help.
I am using QuickPlay 3.0
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Any help that you can provide would be great! I tried the HP Online chat last night, and although they instructed me through the re-install with Recovery Manager, they were unable to fix the issue. I couldn't get a chat session started this morning. I waited for 15 minutes and gave up.
I really love the new unit but I hate when things don't work and this one is bugging me to no end.

Hey, I am having the same problem both with Quickplay and with Windows Media. While watching a DVD, Quickplay just stops responding. I can restart it again and play DVDs for a while, but it happens again.
Windows Media does this when I'm either playing music or trying to burn CDs. Sometimes it will burn the CDs, sometimes it won't. I've wasted many CDs, not knowing whether it's going to take this time or not. When it freezes up, I have to shut the whole computer down in order to get the DVD to eject, and of course after this, the CD is no good.
I've only had this computer about two months. I had a DV 6000t before that got stolen. It gave me no problems. I bought this one and have had nothing but annoyances.
I've tried updating, system restore, and the HP health check and Total Care Advisor, but they don't tell me what's wrong.
Someone please answer if you know what the problem might be. I don't know if it's the computer itself or Windows Vista -
I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with windows update. I've had windows update download and install "software distribution service 2.0" on two separate occasion and it completely screwed up my computer to the point I had to do a system restore both times

I had trouble with my quickplay buttons on my dv2000. After doing a fresh re-install of the os - I downloaded and updated the *sound card* drivers first. Rebooted with new drivers, then installed the quickplay driver. Then everything worked perfectly. But if I just uninstalled/reinstalled quickplay - no dice.
So try that: uninstall the quickplay and sound card (in that order), reboot and install latest sound card drivers, reboot, install quickplay. See if that helps
