Last night the dock's AC input was working but this morning I connected the laptop to the dock and the dock's light turned on, so did the light of the plug that connects to the laptop, but I couldn't turn on the computer. I tried turning it on from the dock (like I always do), and I also tried turning it on from the laptop (the battery wasn't in).
The weird thing is that the dock does work. It's working right now with the USB peripherals and an external monitor, but I had to plug the AC adapter directly to the laptop.
I have no clue what can be causing the problemCould the laptop have switched off the power input from the dock's plug?

Anyone? -
I have the exact same problem. HP chat told me HW failure of QuickDock. Don't think that's the case. It was working fine for 2 weeks. No mechanical impacts. Upgraded to BIOS F.53 / VISTA because of the battery charge issue... Anyone knows whats going on? I can swap the quickdock but I'm afraid its the notebook (DV6885se). Thanks!!!

I used Quickdock with another computer and I can confirm that the dock's AC in is working ... just NOT with my laptop! I told this to HP and they said that the only thing I could do was to restore the system to its original settings in order rule out a software problem; if there's no software problem I can send my laptop back to HP for repair. But I don't want to restore my whole system again and then part with my laptop for who knows how long. If you have the time or are willing to do it, I'd recommend you to do it.
PS. HP also sent me another AC adaptor but that wasn't the problem. -
Your expansion port is broken perhaps?

Everything else works. I have several thing plugged to the dock: monitor, keyboard, hard-drives, etc.
The HP person I talked to, told me to re-install Vista. I did that, but for other reasons, and it didn't fix the problem -
Well that is very unusual.
It sounds like your Expansion port AC power rail is dead.
Try resetting your CMOS by holding the power button for 30 seconds with no power or battery plugged in. Probably not the solution, but worth the try anyway..
Quickdock's AC input is not working anymore
