I just upgraded the software on my quicklaunch (actually finally upgraded all drivers and software) but anyways. since i upgraded quicklaunch the mute button doesnt turn orange anymore when its muted. Anyone know how to fix it?

Also for the past 9 months or so i havent had the sounds from when i push quicklaunch buttons. anyone know how to get the sound back? The beeping sound when u hit volume and what not.

    thanks in advance!

sound card drivers are responsible for the mute blue/orange light. Re-install these and it will work again. You might need to get a different version

To get the QLB click sounds back, go to your BIOS and enable/disable then restart

I have updated sound card driver, maybe i will downgrade. i went into bios and done enable disable on QLB still no workie

Thanks flipfire, I downgraded sound driver and it works now, but still dont have the little beeping when i push buttons, I have tried disable >save/exit> restart > enable. but still doesnt work. I talked to HP a long time ago and they said they dont know how to fix it. and for me to send it in because they suspect hardware issues. but i think it software. or a reg key that got disabled or something

yeah mine dissapeared too, but it came back somehow... its a mystery...definately not a hardware issue though

btw if you download the latest driver from windows update, that is the incorrect one. That would explain the light not working

Ya, i havent had the sounds for a long time, i first realized them missing when i disabled some startup programs, and i think i disabled quicklaunch on accident, and went back and enabled it. it kinda annoys me, I miss having those sounds, even though they only worked for the first 2 months i had the computer, but i still miss them, it helped adjusting volume.

I upgraded from HP website, the driver worked, but it disabled my button from turning orange.

You know. I have an idea, ill take out my cousins hardrive, he has the same laptop as I, and see if they buttons make sound then, because then it will let me know if its a software or hardware issue. HP insists its a hardware issue. but I dont see how it can be if they worked, and I rebooted and they stopped. and every other function works with the quicklaunch besides the button sounds.

A related question for you guys with the newest units: I'm seeing QuickTouch drivers on the download pages instead of the older Quicklaunch Button drivers. Did HP make some radical change to the top buttons?

I installed Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver to get the lights back.

My problem with Quicklaunch Buttons is that one day I turned on my dv 9000 and the volume +/- buttons did not light up at all.All the QLB work properly including the volume buttons and the beep sound is working too.
I think that maybe the little blue led light under the above specified buttons just do not work for some reason.
    Any ideas?
