Is Quickplay disabled if you have any kind of login security enabled?

The Quickplay I refer to is the option to play movies without the computer being booted.

I have my fingerprint reader set for login, and have never been able to use the Quickplay option. Pressing any of the QP keys boots the computer.

Sure, I can use Quickplay once booted, but I was kinda hoping to use it as originally intended. So the kids can play movies without access to the OS.

Quickplay in Vista really doesn't work without booting OS; Vista has to be fully loaded in order to launch Quickplay.

If Quickplay is something that is launched without the OS, then why would there be an incompatibility issue with ANY OS, even Vista? It doesn't make sense. I thought QP, when used from an off state, was from a partition separate from the OS?

That being the case, it wouldn't matter if the OS were XP, Vista, or even Linux.

(I understand there to be two Quickplays, one that launches from a pre-boot state, and the other which is a standard windows program that launches from within Windows) Is this erroneous?

it worked fine in XP but when vista came out they found the way vista handles booting isnt compatible with things like quickplay, so it does matter at least with vista. they say theyre working on a fix but not sure if they still bother trying to fix it.
