I have a DV9008NR, which I purchased last October, with XP pre-installed. I installed the Vista upgrade in March and everything went fine; unlike some I had no trouble getting the Quickplay buttons to work while using Vista.

Then, last week, the Quickplay buttons stopped working altogether - no audible beep when I touch them, either. They do still light up. I booted into XP (I kept my original XP install) and they no longer work in there, either, which tells me that it may be a hardware problem rather than a software issue.

My notebook is still under warranty, but I'm hesitant to send it to HP and be without it for several weeks just to correct this relatively minor issue. (I must say that I miss having the volume adjustment right on the keyboard, though.) Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a setting in the bios that I'm somehow overlooking that would switch these back on?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Evan

What does the device manager tell you? Does it show an exclamation mark on anything there? Could be a simple reinstallation of drivers.

New BIOS updates are known to break QuickPlay support in XP, but you said it's doing it in Vista too, so I'm not too sure. Try reinstalling your Quick Launch drivers.
