The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Quickplay crashes keyboard on dv5000

    Hi everyone,

    Lately I've been having a problem with the Quickplay buttons. I can turn the sound off by software, using the Windows sound control, but whenever I use any of three volume keys, the keyboard and the touchpad crash and I can't do anything. Stuff in the pc goes on, but I just can't make any input. I have reinstalled Quickplay using the HP software and it didn't do anything. Also, I haven't tried the other two Quickplay buttons to see if they have the same effect. Any guesses?
