Alright guys, I think I may just be slow when it comes to this topic, but I've read all I can read and still don't know what I should do. I bought a DV9000 that came with Vista, and wiped it to put on xp. I guess I got rid of a partition that was used for quickplay? My problem is that I want quickplay, and have no idea how to get it back. I am pretty illiterate with computers when it comes to doing things outside the os, so any help would be greatly appreciated (especially a step-by-step). Thanks.

    1. You will need Quickplay version 2, the one included with Vista wont work with XP.

    2. There are 2 parts to QP2 - one which is a prgram in Windows and the other is the embedded version also called Diectplay(this is the one which needs the speparate partition and is bootable).

    3. You should be able to find these files online or if anyone has a HP/Compaq system with XP, it is found in the Swsetup folder under QPW and HPQPDP folders.

    4. After you have these, create a partition exactly 1028MB and leave it as unformatted space.

    5. Next run the setup for QPW which is the Windows half of quickplay and then start the setup for HPQPDP which will install the directplay software onto the partition.

    6. The most likely sources of error will appear if the partition is of incorrect size and/or if there are more than3 partitons(thats what I have heard). Otherwise it should be as easy as installing any other software.

P.S Make sure you have a dv9000 series(dv90xx to dv94xx). Quickplay 2 direct wont work in any of the newer dv95xx+ models.

Thanks for that. I'll be able to do this now :)
My only problem now is finding a copy of quickplay. I found a torrent, but it's gonna be a while to finish.
    And yeah, I have a dv9000ea
