The charging system is not working properly on my R3000. I have tried a known good AC adapter and it still has the same issue.
My notebook will not register that it is plugged into AC power. If I remove the dc plug and plug it back in it registers that it is plugged in. It has been getting progressively worse. I am now to the point where it only charges for about 2 seconds upon replugging it in.
I suspected a bad DC jack, as I have had a similar problem on my last compaq. I pulled the mother board and inspected the jack. There are no cold/broken joints or other signs of failure on the jack. The thing that steers me away from being a jack is the progressively worse condition and that if I wiggle the cord I cannot get it to be worse or better(making or breaking a contact)
I can replace the jack no issue. I would rather not just aimlessly shoot at the problem.

I had the same problem with my old zv6005us and after I purchased a replacement power adapter from HP (I STREES HP, because I bought a clone first and it didn't work) it is back to it's old self.

My ac adapter works fine on another compaq and that one has the same issue on mine. IMO that rules out the AC adapter.

this has been the worst thing about my zd7000 and thats why its sitting next to me dead right now. Like you said, it gets worse, and trust me it will stop chargin all together. I sent my zd7000 in for this 5 times and this last time i demanded a refund; we settled on a brand new dv2700t (3.5 years after purchase). I was in the market for a new laptop, but now that i have this coming in, i might as well use it for atleast a year. I had no desire for any of the consumer line from HP, but what else can you do with a new laptop.
