When I power up my R3000 laptop all the appropriate lights come on and I can enter the BIOS setup menu with no problem. However as soon as I exit this menu the computer immediately powers off. I have to use the power adapter always as the battery is dead but is inserted. (Same problem with battery not inserted). If I [power up and let the computer try to boot it gets to the Setup/Boot selection display and then powers off. Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

laptop might be dirty inside try opening it ip and cleaning the fans alternatively you can blow out the dirt using a can of compressed air but opening it up would be the better option

I had something similiar on a HP ZV5000 series laptop.

Leave the computer on the BIOS setup screen for a few minutes. If it powers down then more than likely the computer is overheating. If you are technically capable take apart the laptop, clean the fans and put a new coat of thermal paste on the processor.
