I have a 15.4" screen, and I normally run Windows at 1280 x 800 resolution. Since most games don't support this res, I have to use regular ones like 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, etc. I would like to use "Fixed Aspect Ratio Scaling" in the advanced options for my GeForce4, but whenever I select it and enter a game (e.g. Diablo II) the screen is scrambled. I have to set it for either "Display Adapter Scaling" getting a squashed picture, or "Centered Output" getting a tiny picture.
I called HP Tech Support and inquired about this problem. They say that the notebook isn't at fault, it's the software I'm trying to run. They say that "Fixed Aspect Ratio" option is more for multimedia programs and movies rather than games. The scrambled picture I'm getting is normal they say. Doesn't sound right, but if this is happening to everybody else, I won't complain. Could somebody try setting this option and running a game in a non-widescreen resolution (I was trying Doom 3 at 640 x 480).

Ok, I took a bunch of pics. I took the screens from an angle to avoid the glare from the flash.
