This afternoon I went down to Circuit City to config a R4000. I'm lookin for a lil feedback to see if I can get a better deal than the one I got today. Here's the specs:
AMD Athlon(TM) 64 4000+ (2.4GHz/1MB l2 Cache)
15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
256MB DDR SDRAM (1x256MB)
60 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
128MB ATI RADEON(R) XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory(TM)
54g(TM) Integ. Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional with SP2
Microsoft(R) Works/Money
12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Total: $1,221.89 + $85.53 Tax = $1,307.42 - $180 MIR - $30 MIR = $1097.42 Final Price
I already have 2 kingston pc2700 sticks and a 60GB 7200 HD so all I gotta do is just swap 'em out.
Well, CompUSA and Office Depot are both havin deals on the R4000 starting tomorrow, so if anybody can let me know if I can do better pricewise on a CTO R4000 with them same exact specs, hit me back. Thanks

1st off, as I understand it the deal @ CC was only until today...Or did u already purchase it?
2nd, Definitely go in-store tmw to see what this config. will be elsewhere (I'm pretty certain, though, that CC is higher)
3rd, there was ALSO a mention in CC ad of a $50 instant rebate which doesn't pop-up/get taken off automatically, it requires you to demand it from the StoreMgr. since they did, in fact, advertise this.
4th, I was down there about 2hrs ago, myself, & configured my spec's & found it just shy of HP's prices (when I include my student disc & a 10% coupon they gave me)...But I never followed through w/ the purchase @ CC to find out their shippingfee...did u?

Yeah Partner, I purchased it today at CC, I asked about that 50 Instant Rebate, but after talkin with two sales rep and the manager, they broke it down to me that the IR was already reflected in the price.........I dunno, but however, I did get free shipping, so the total price is just the cost of the CTO R4000 plus tax, minus rebates.

That's a nice computer for that price. The RAM and hard drive are a bit disappointing, but you said you have better parts to swap them out for, so you're pretty much set. Also, that graphics card's probably gonna be aweful for modern games (as it was explained here in a couple places before, the x200's "Hypermemory" basicly means 32MB of dedicated VRAM and 96MB of shared, plus the x200 is similar to a MR9000 with DX9 compatability), but I'll await your 3DMark scores.

I ordered a R4000 CFO from COMPUSA, after ?? rebates 399 + NJ tax and shipping 79$, came out to 769.99.
SO I looked at my receipt, the estimated ship date is 6/13/05, but the 170$ rebate (total = ~300) (1 of 4) needs to be postmarked by 6/10/200%!!! do the match. SO I tried to get my money back (4-days after I ordered). Those SOBs tried to tell "don't worry you it always get it shipped early", I told them that I did not want to fight with the COMPUSA REBATE NAZIs. After banging on doors getting the managers attention they finally sent a e-mail to HP/COMPAQ requesting to cancel my order.
Funny how they banged my credit card for 769 in a flash, with a mid-June delivery, but any cancellation takes 5-signatures.
