I recently got my Compaq R4000 in the mail. It's nice, feels solid, runs cool, etc. It runs quite well, even with just the 256mb memory I ordered from HP.

I also recently got my 1GB RAM from NewEgg. Here's the specs if anyone's curious...
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820155111

I installed it, and can boot up fine, BIOS recognizes that there is 1.25 GB there, etc. When I get to the desktop, I get a brief memory module error bluescreen, too brief to read it all, and then it starts to reboot on it's own.

Does anyone have any advice / input regarding this? As far as I can tell, I ordered the right type of memory. I even double-checked it with Crucial.com. While this is the first notebook I've owned, I'm nearly certain that I'm installing it correctly, having done alot of changes to my desktop in the past.

Has anyone else had problems with adding memory to your R4000, or had problems with KingMax? I emailed NewEgg already, no response yet. I'm just wondering what to do. Please advise.

Lots of people have had problems with Kingmax. See some of the other zv6000 threads in this forum. Crucial and Kingston PC2700 SODIMMs are reliable, try one of those.

What should I do with the faulty ram? Does NewEgg or Kingmax have a return policy?

Or am I just outta luck with the $ I already spent? [ :(]

EDIT: Nevermind, found the refund section on NewEgg.com. I'm such a n00b.
