7200rpm hard drives of any make should not be a problem. Just make they are standard 2.5" notebook hdd's.

Well, I am thinking of going with PC 3200, but so far I have not been ableto find a dual channel DDR400 PC 3200 sodimm that is compatible. I would appreciate any recommendations. HP is no help at all on memory recommendations. Also, that 7200 rpm hitachi might be being used by HP in the "big" notebooks. I will do the Guinea Pig eval on that drive...

Upgrading the RAM on a newly released laptop is tricky...since not many people would have upgraded.

I guess Kingston, Crucial or any type of good quality RAM with the same frequency (133MHz,166MHz) & latency..should have a higher probability of working with the laptop. Make sure you buy from a place with a resonable/good return policy just in case the module does not work.

Some people here have reported that the computer might be running in single channel mode. Dual channel has more to do with your processor(AMD 4000+ S939 should be able to run DC) being able to make use of extended bandwidth when 2 pairs of identical memory modules are used.

If you are going to attempt PC3200, I recommend buying directly from crucial.com since their memory configurator recommends PC3200 for the zv6000 and if you buy what it recommends they'll guarantee it'll work. I suspect that pairs of PC3200 SODIMMs may not be consistently reliable until the changeover to the Rev. E CPU cores (Venice/San Diego).

You're probably better off saving your money and buying PC2700.

Hitachi 40GB 7200RPM drives are easy to find, but yeah, the 60GB drives are tough. Wonder when Seagate's new 100GB 7200RPM drives will hit the market.
