I have recently started using my laptop a lot more now that I finally got the wife a decent monitor.

She was fine sitting at 512mb of RAM, but I need more power!

According to HP specs, my machine only handle up to 1gb of RAM. That's fine by me as it allows me enough room to DOUBLE teh current configuration.

What I am unclear on is max RAM in each slot. Pricewise, I am looking at the same price for 2 sticks of 512 (it currently has 2 x 256) or 1 x 1gb.

On Crucial and Kingston's website, they do not offer 1gb sticks, so their configurations don't show allowance for 1 gb.

Does anyone know if I can just utilize 1gb stick to upgrade to the max??

I would assume that it would work only with 2x512. I've never run into a notebook that supported the maximum RAM in a single slot.
