I currently have (1) 2GB and (1) 1GB stick of RAM in my dv9700t and was wondering if it would make any difference if I went ahead and upgraded to 4GB? I will adventually upgrade to Vista Ultimate. Will it cause any issues with the Vista 32 bit operating system?

Make sure it's the 64 bit Vista Ult. It won't cause any problems with the 32 bit Vista, but you can't use all 4 GB of RAM. Even if you could use all 4 GB, you probably wouldn't notice any difference.

With 32Bit Vista you will only see about 3.2GB ram, meaning you will lose about a GB of ram. If you are going to stay with 32bit then stay with 3GB.

If you are going to upgrade to Vista 64 then by all means get 4GB.

Though if your not really doing anything that memory/cpu intensive like serious photo/video editing, then 3GB is more then enough.

As the two above me stated, you will only be able to use the 3.2GB of RAM with a Windows 32-bit OS. If you are planning on upgrading to a 64-bit version of Windows then I would say go for it, otherwise don't bother wasting your money. Also remember, with your HP laptop the highest RAM you can use is 667Mhz, if you do buy faster RAM it will still work, but only at the 667Mhz speed.
