    I got the ze4610us which came with 256mb ram. I think its PC2100 memory but BestBuy shows memory for this laptop as the PC2700. Will that work? I figure there is 1 stick of 256 in the laptop with an extra slot for other memory. thanks

    I took a look at crucial.com for your model, but they didn't have your exact model. All other ze4000 models used PC2100 so I am sure that its a pretty safe bet that PC2100 is the type of memory need.

    I was curious about this myself so I just read the numbers off the ram in my ze4610us and here's what I got:

    Samsung 401
    K4H561638F-TCB3

    According to samsung's site, B3 designates it as DDR333, or PC2700. Pull the cover off and check your ram, it might be PC2700 like mine.

    The ze4610us comes with PC2700. According to the docmentation it can also use PC2100. I purchased a PC2700 256 MB stick at Best Buy and it works fine.

    it just depends on the bus speed of the cpu I think, the athlon xp-m has a 266mhz fsb, and PC2100 is just the marketing name for DDR266 ram, so yeah, PC2100 should work just fine in it.

    The PC2700 (aka DDR333) is just running at 266mhz, which is perfectly fine, the ddr rating is just the maximum bus speed the ram is capable of.

    can you mix the memory? meaning a stick of pc2100 and pc2700 in the laptop?

    At BestBuy they have some pc2700 on sale. 256mb stick for $25 after rebate.
