This laptop just came out and I ordered it. I don't know too much about the Mother Board but it's got an Intel 8565U processor, Nvidia MX150 graphics card, and an Intel 9560 WiFi card (not sure if it's soldered on). I'm guessing the MB isn't too different from the previous model and I was wondering if anyone has any experience upgrading their RAM to 64GB (2 x 32GB) in general. Which modules would you recommend? Word on the street is that this line is a little picky about what it accepts for 32GB (2 x 16GB). I did some research and it seems like people got the 32GB upgrade to work using the Samsung M471A2K43CB1-CRC, the Crucial CT2K16G4SFD824A, and the Kingston HX424S14IBK2/32. I couldn't find any information on upgrading it to 64GB. Anyone advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Edit - I did some searching and I don't think 32gb Ram modules exists for laptops? ie I can't do 2x32gb?

Thank you for your replies! I'd like to max out the RAM (speed and capacity) but not sure what the unofficial limits are with my system.

This sounds sweet! They announced it in may but it doesn't seem to be out yet. Do you have any idea when it'll be available?

You mean the 8565U (you have the correct link)
That's disappointing. Unfortunately I can't go with the higher powered 8750H processor as I'm going for a laptop with longer battery life. I wonder how firm they are on the 32GB maximum. I know for the RAM speed it's not necessary a hard limit it seems. My 3 year old computer (XPS 9550) has a 6700HQ processor and it lists the "Memory Types" as DDR4-2133. Is this supposed to be the Max RAM speed? Because my system is running at 2600 MHz and I haven't done any overclocking (unless it was done without my knowledge somehow). The 8565U says "Memory Types DDR4-2400" but I'm hoping it'll run fine at higher speeds. I'd hate to get a new, spiffy laptop and have it run slower than my 3 year old laptop. Is there a logically way I can deduce the true max speed without overclocking? I guess I can try out my current ram module on the new laptop, in which case, are there any BIOS settings I'll have to change to run at a higher MHz?

I read that if the RAM is rated at a higher speed than what the system is capable of, the RAM will just run at the system max. So if I bought DDR4 3200 RAM and system max is 2400, will it just run at 2400?

Also, I noticed that for a given RAM line, the lower MHz RAM will have better timings. For example, the G.Skill Ripjaws 3200 specs list timings of 18-18-18-43 while the 2400 module's timing is 16-16-16-39. Does this mean if I use the 3200 modules and 2400 max speed system the RAM timings will be slower? Or will the 3200 modules run at 2400 timings? i.e. 16-16-16-39, instead of the listed 18-18-18-43

Woops, my apologies for the bogus processor model... Yes, I meant I7-8565U. Here is one more page confirming that max memory addressability is 32GB:

    https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/core_i7/i7-8565u

This however does not necessarily mean that DF0068-NR can be upgraded to 32GB... It depends on how memory is implemented... Socketed/soldered, and machine-specific memory address implementation... Best to call HP support at 1-866-625-3906 before getting a bad surprise.

When I had 8mb of ram and my Uncle got his laptop maxed out at 128mb, he told me RAM is one of those things where more is always better. lol. I'm on 32 gigs and everytime it reaches 60% RAM use things start to crash. I have a loooooot of tabs opened across 3 browsers, 100's. I have no idea why this has to use up RAM. Shouldn't it be that the 5 tabs that are active use up RAM and the others just loaded up when I switch to them? I tried using extensions that was supposed to do this but not sure if it helped. A lost touch with all the nice extensions like session manager when Firefox made its major update (Quantum?). Any advice is welcomed.

Under normal use my ram is at about 40%. And then when I have a lot of office programs opened, things are usually okay as well. But then when I open some big excel files with a lot of data, excel starts to crash. It's so annoying when this happens. I'm planning on learning data science and I assume I'll be needing more RAM. If 64gigs of RAM prevents 10 crashes over the next 3 years it's money well spent for me. But it seems like I'll be maxed out at 32gigs anyway.
