So I bought a new V200oz on March 16th and I had some issues with my wireless card. After contactinf hp support a couple of times they decided to replace the card (they would send me a new one).

I first complained about this issue to hp on March 29th and they said I would receive the new card on April 3rd...however, they didn't deliver and kept stalling me. They kept saying that I would receive the card in one or two days and a month went by...last friday I got an RMA. Yes, I'm returning the laptop!!! Here's a message to hp/Compaq:

NO CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH FOR A REPLACEMENT WIRELESS CARD!!!
NO CUSTOMER SHOULD BE DECEIVED ABOUT DELIVERY DATES OF WARRANTY-BASED REPLACEMENT PARTs!!!

A guy from Hp Case Management called me today to say how sorry they were that I hadn't received the card yet but that the card was in a 12week back-order. He suggested that I returned the laptop and get a new one with a brand new card, how's that? Why didn't this case manager called me a week after I reported the issue? Why wait for month to give a "solution" to an issue?

He said that they didn't have wireless card as replacements but they had cards for the new laptops so I have better off returning the laptop, getting my money credited to my Credit Card and rebuying the same machine...I said: "No way Jose"...I'm returning the laptop allright, but I ain't getting no compaq laptop...at least for now...

    Truly disappointed on Hp's service...

I sincerely hope that u don't have to...don't get me wrong, other than the wireless card problem (which is made by Bradcomm's and not hp's) the laptop was ok (bit filmsy keyboard as opposed to, say, a Lenovo or a Dell).

What wasn't cool was HP's response to a customer's issue.

Well, it took almost a week to get them to ship me a replacement mouse..
So I guess a month for a wireless card can't be that bad now can it? :p

    Sorry...

Oh, btw.. I had serious problems with my wireless card also. I have the Intel 2200 BG. It turned out that it was all a software problem. And I was eventually able to get it resolved. I'm not saying that is the case for you.
Thread for the 2200BG Wireless card problems (EDIT: Oops, this doesn't help you does it? Sorry)

I have a v4000 and I am VERY happy with it.. Couldn't be happier.. Well, maybe I'd be happier if the HP mouse that I bought with it didn't break after 2 months..

^^ no problem...it doesn't help since mine is the Broadcomm card but that's alright...they'll come pick it up tomorrow...

I bought a Dell XPS M140 on February and had to return it due to abttery issues...Bought this Compaq in March and is going back now...It seems like I should wait for a couple months before retrying to buy another laptop...

man it's been terrible...I never thought that buying a laptop would be so painful!

I'm this close to keeping the old fart lappy that I have and postponing the purchase to some other time (maybe Turion 64 X2???)
