The specs look good for my purposes (a lot of media watching--streaming, DVDs, eventual TV Tuner card--it would be my sole media device; a lot of Internet work; basic Office stuff; Skype, etc.), as I am not a gamer at all.
However, I am concerned about the refurb aspect, HP quality in general, and that 90 day warranty listed.
My current system is a refurb Dell that has been great for over 4 years, but this deal is way better than anything I can find at Dell.
So, HP gurus. Are they any good? Would you trust an HP refurb? Why are there so many refurbs of this model around? Was there a recall or something I can't discover?
If I buy from NewEgg, I don't think I can get the HP service plan. Is NewEgg's 3rd-party warranty program (ServiceNet) any good? What about Square Trade warranties?
Basically, is this deal too good to be true? Or should I jump on it?
Thank you!

Refurb already? Sounds like someone got theirs, either wasn't happy with it or something wasn't quite working and returned it under their warranty. I can't anwser any of those questions as I've never needed to think about them but the referb just sounds a little fishy, I doubt their would be any marks on the chassis however since it is so young

I am concerned because it isn't just one refurb system for this model. There are seemingly dozens of them all over the Net. That was why I was wondering if there was some sort of recall I couldn't find any info about or something. It's not typical to see so many refurbs of a particular model (all with the same specs).
As I said, I've had a refurb Dell for ages that has been wonderful, so I don't have a problem with buying one, as long as I can get a sense of whether HP refurbs are any good, and if I can get a good extended warranty. I certainly don't care about any cosmetic scratches if they don't affect the goods inside. -
I would not. 90 days is pretty low for that value. Note that your graphic card is integrated. Or one of worse around. Okay for office and such.

I would definitely have to buy an extended warranty, probably through a third-party warranter like SquareTrade.
I realize the graphics card is integrated, but would that matter much for my purposes (mainly video--streaming, disk and DVD)? From what I've been looking at in my price range, there aren't a lot of discrete video cards.
Thank you for your help! -
I am not sure. I would try to get an opinion of a person with that card even from other models, manufacturers. It is said the sandybridge with integrated intel HD3000 will be much more powerfull and much faster to convert to youtube.
