Which is why I bought a 3 inch android sticker to cover the beats logo. Might as well support the company I love.

Does this mean that those of us who bought Envy 14 in November/December (with those huge coupons) can maybe purchase a radiance screen from the HP parts store?

LOL. Long way of saying we will tell you NO in a few weeks even though we could tell you flat out right now. This makes us look good and as if we are actually seriously taking into account your question.

    Boilerplate, my friend. Boilerplate. ;)

P.S. though if you got 10,000+ folks to ask the question within 30 days, they might actually consider it.

I personally think they're using the limited edition deal to see how big the response is...then they may bring it back again, increase the $$ and see how much success they have...like last time.

Guys - for those of us who bought Envy's in Nov/Dec time frame, I just got off phone with HP support and they agreed to process my return and ordered a new laptop with Radiance. They also offered a 2 day shipping. But it cost me $100 more ( + $200 for radiance) than the previous one as I had $300 coupon earlier and now I could only use $200 coupon .. if you guys want to give it a try go ahead .. I know there are discussions going on if its worth $300 more for radiance or not .. I just thought of sharing this info as for those who bought in Nov/Dec might be thinking they were just unlucky ..

All the ppl that are dying for the radiance display... why don't u buy it from the hp parts store and replace the normal display?
The only downside is that it's more expensive ($300)

@ latebeat, that is why we are asking the question. WE WANT TO BUY the display for the current laptops that we have. I was debating on returning my current laptop "Beats" for the Radiance display, but I I love my black laptop more that I thought I would and I do not want to return it for one that I am sure it will have problems, my current laptop is perfect. If someone gets the radiance display from HP, I will follow form and just buy one and put it in myself. Can't be that hard.

Interestingly, if you check the reviews of the envy 14 by date, there were a string of complaints about it no longer having the radiance display, and lo and behold what happens, it appears once again.

COMPLAIN MORE PEOPLE !!!!!!!!! IT WORKS !!!!!!!

@PatzCU - yes . you should be able to return. Mine was also around the same date (Dec 7) and I was able to return. So try it fast. I was able to get the same config with Radiance for the same amount that I paid earlier.

Meetleo09, mind if I ask how you did this? Should I just call customer support and tell them I want to return the Envy or can I say I want to exchange for a radiance model?

I haven't done this, so maybe calling them and asking politely may work...but I would complain about the screen. Cause that really is the problem and why you want to return it. In my opinion, the brightview screen is "defective". They put a matted screen behind a glossy plastic cover.

when I called in yesterday I did not know if they would do it or not. I just told them that "when I got this laptop it did not have Radiance Screen. Now that it is available I would like to exchange the current one ". The rep was able to help me out and also gave me a 2 day shipping for free. As everyone suspecting, they might be clearing out the stock. But I think for $950 + tax this is an awesome deal.

EDIT: Well, after 30 mins on the phone I ended up having to put in a REQUEST to cancel the first order, and then had to put in a second order w/ the new coupon code. Talk about a Cluster F***! Hopefully it doesn't take them to long to credit me..... Idk if I'll be able to survive of ramen noodles til then!

I'm talking via chat to an online rep right now. I received my Envy on Dec 8th and they are letting me return for a full refund and place a new order with on an Envy 14 with Radiance + the $500 off coupon.

Sweeeeeeeeet! The new laptop will have the same specs as the last one I ordered (except new one has Radiance) and will be CHEAPER due to the coupon.

EDIT: $100 cheaper than my previous Envy, $920

HP is using that radiance display + the coupons to get rid of all the current generation motherboards and CPU's in stock. Next ones are coming soon I think.

yeah, but do you think that in the new generation, the Radiance Display is still available? I am afraid that they willl remove the display in the next refresh even if they upgrade the CPU to Sandy Bridge.

HP's generous coupons along with Microsoft's and Amazon's heavy discounts, something is definitely happening.

Do you think SB will be that much better ?
On the video card side, from what I have seen and heard the new video cards that can fit in a 14" casing are not much more powerful than the older generation. ATI's 5000 vs 6000 and nVidia's 335 vs 425 are all scoring similar benchmarks.

the slice costs $200 as an upgrade, whereas on the parts store it costs only $128. So instead of wasting $72 of my $500 coupon i upgraded the CPU to a 580 and got an extra 8 cell battery (whose price is not so different from the parts). Ill get the slice later from the parts store.

its actually $150 after tax and shipping and seems kinda used..(mine had some dust/fingerprints and the number 28 written on it with marker..cleaned it off now though and it works perfect), also for some reason, 1 stick of 4gb RAM is $650 in the parts store..

thanks for the info, I didnt know they charged taxes on the parts stores.
It's still a good deal compared to some ludicrous ebay sellers trying to get us to shell out over $240 for that.
Maybe you got a refurbished one, strange ...

As for the 4gb stick, its pretty funny HP sells it for $650 xD , I would buy mine from newegg or similar.

Well, now you've raised the ugly question I was afraid to ask. Without reading all of the more recent posts in the Envy 14 threads, I wonder if you would be willing to summarize just how often E14s are still rolling off the line full of problems. Honestly, the "cpu whine" is the least of my concerns (almost always have lots of ambient noise in the background), but are they generally still full of bugs and difficulties? Is the only way to get things right to keep replacing them until you get a "good one," as the two of you apparently have, or are most of the issues reparable?

I just ordered mine after waiting for months for Radiance's return! $944, too good to be true - correct?
