    my friend has a compaq nx6125, he has a 256 gb ram. he has looked up what he can upgrade to which is max 2gb ram(two slots)

    he has bought a 1gb card ,can he leave the 256 card in to make 1256 gb of ram.

    or just the 1gb

    Yes, he can run 1.25GB RAM. It does not have to be matched.

    Umm, well my sis did that with a 512 stick in her notebook and she gets 700 something so I don't think it's going to do anything bad. He won't notice a great big difference between 1.2 gigs and 1 gig but it's extraordinarily better than 256 megs of RAM.

    My V2000Z with 256MB RAM (and integrated graphics took a fair chunk of that) came to life when I added a 1GB stick. Definitely add it.
