I recently got the X6000 notebook laptop and posted a question about the game quailty. I found out that I needed more RAM for my lappy. Anyway, I finally got a 512 stick of Ram, and I didn't know if the motherboard In the laptop was able to support two different speeds or ram together, I.E. using a 512 and 256. I didn't know if it had to be the same or if I could just keep the 256 stick that the laptop came with and also use the 512 that I'm getting. If anyone can let me know or direct me to a previous post where this question was answered, let me know! Thanks!

    Hey,

Your laptop will be able to run both sticks. The only problem with running mismatched sticks is you will be running in non dual channel. Meaning instead of getting 6.4 (PC 3200) you will be running 3.2GHz in bandwidth. All your ram will show up, but with dual channel, it's capable of giving the infromation your cpu request twice as fast.

    X6000 / P-4 3.2GHz (540) / 2gigs PC2 4200 (533MHz) DDR2 Ram / 7200RPM 60 gig HHD / 8x DVD Burner and the Brightview!

So basically, it'd be faster than just having the 512, but wouldn't have the Duel Bandwith going on, so wouldn't be maximized. I'm planning on getting another 512 down the way, I just don't really have the cash to afford it right now. Thanks for letting me know.
