Does anyone know if DDR2-667 ram is shipped in the CTO DV9000z when equipped with the Turion X2 TL-64?

I was wondering if I should just order the basic 512MB and get 2 sticks of decent 667 ram from NewEgg, but the cost savings is really not there at this time over HP ram. Thoughts?

have u checked the hp site? they should give details of wat kinda ram is used and i wud assume the latest AMD platform would use DDR2. the dv9000t uses 667 DDR2 so why wudnt they do the same with the AMD version?

I could not find any ram speed info on the specs page, so I just figured that HP might go cheapo on the AMD model (as they have been known to do) and stick 533 ram in it. ;)

However, you are correct. I found the maintenance guide for both models and there is a mention of 667 ram in them. Just wanted to make sure.

I guess I'd be better off just getting the full 2GB from HP after all.

    Thanks!

    :)

    Yeah, that's the best option.

AMD's integrated memory controller can be picky about the RAM you put in yourself. so, when buying it from HP, you're guaranteed compatibility.

I believe they are shipping 667MHz RAM with all of their systems. My Sempron based V3000z shipped with 2X256MB DDR2 667Mhz, so I would expect them to ship the same with the dv9000z as well.

Whats cpu-z? Also I chose to go with the 512 and bought some 2GB 667 corsair off newegg; should I install it as soon as I get the laptop without turning it on first?

    CPU-Z.

I'd test your laptop with the stock configuration first just to make absolutely sure it's working correctly and then swap in the new RAM. Don't forget to remove the battery before making such hardware changes. I also strongly recommend using MemTest86+ to verify the new memory configuration.
