    Hi everyone

About 6 months ago I got a computer tech to install extra ram into my Compaq Presario V2000. It had 250mg, and I got an extra 500mg put in. The computer was faster and worked brilliantly.

Around the same time I noticed the fan started clicking when it turned on, and eventually now, ceases to work. I keep it on a cooling pad to stop over heating. My question is, could installing this extra ram cause malfunction of the fan/heatsink? I plan on selling this for parts, but my girlfriend has the exact model, and would like my old 500mg ram put into hers. Not sure that I should because I dont want hers to stuff up too.

This could be purely coinsidentual, but COULD be because of the ram. Any advice would be good. Thanks!

It's coincidental. Fans are high on the most likely to break list.

I refurbished a V2000z a few months ago. Nice machines. I did the same thing you did, adding another 512MB to the existing 256MB. I wouldn't mind having another one to play with if the price is cheap enough.
