Ok my raw read error rate is 215824 according to HDTune, and the seek error rate always goes from 0, to 2600 and then resets to 0 and counts again? Does this mean that the harddrive is fault..? because the laptop is only a week and a bit old if that.
Please help!
hardrive is a Fujitsu MHZ2250BH G2.
Just for an idea of how new the laptop is the power on time is 148 hours.

Sometimes software doesn't correctly read the SMART data.
First try the Fujitsu diagnostic utility. That should read the SMART data correctly.
If the diagnostic utility says the HDD is OK then download and install the ActiveSmart trial. It monitors changes to the SMART data and will tell you if there are changes.

You can't really speed up a hard drive. The only thing you can really do to get better performance is to limit how many things access the drive at a time as well as how many times you access drive. You can limit how many things access the drive by checking and making sure programs/processes running in the background are essential and not just junkware. You can limit how many times the drive is accessed by having a good amount of RAM so that the system can store it there instead of constantly seeking the hard drive.
