Hey all, I just bought a new dm4 with the 160GB Intel X25-M G2 and want to do a repartition and clean OS installation on the drive.

I've been out of the game for a few years now, but have been doing my homework on SSDs, so hopefully, I have some idea of what I'm talking about! If anyone has done something similar with their hp laptop, I'd really appreciate if you'd comment on my plans.

    CURRENT STATE:
    SSD Firmware: 02HA
    Partitions: (C)- 130.19GB
    HP_TOOLS (E) - 99MB
    RECOVERY (D) - 18.57GB
    SYSTEM - 199MB

    PLANS:
    1. Update SSD Firmware - to 02HD
    2. Secure Erase/Repartition - I made recovery DVDs already, so I'd like to put maybe half of the RECOVERY partition to use as spare area for the SSD. Should I secure erase the drive and the partition out the drive? And does anyone know what is on the System and HP Tools partitions?
    3. Install Windows - Followed the Out-of-box guide for making an installation disc and activation backup
    4. Install Drivers, Software, etc. - backed up my swsetup folder

    GOALS:
    - Get firmware and drivers up to date
    - Give SSD 10-15% spare area (still necessary for this drive?)
    - Only have the software I want installed

    Looks good? :)
