    Hi,

Has anyone out there managed to get "readyboost" to work on an HP laptop running Vista (please note whether 32 or 64) with an SD card?

We have a new 8510w here running vista64 and it reports that all cards are too slow - even cards that work on other laptops running XP. (Not to mention it takes about ten years to download a filled card out of a camera...)

I'm hoping to determine if it's a faulty hardware problem (laptop goes back to HP), or a driver problem (sigh...).

    Thanks

well I was recently using the Memory Stick Pro Duo on my Vostro 1400 on Vista 32 bit Business Edition.

What kind of cards are you using?

Hi Waveblade, thanks for the reply.

    They're SanDisk Extreme III cards.

I forgot to mention also: if I plug the card into a USB SD card reader it works fine. (Fast transfers, readyboost works, etc...)

    ?

That's strange. Personally I'd go out and get a more common format.

Like SD cards. Or Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Whichever is cheaper. I'm not quite sure why you have this problem

I have a pile of um that are work on my DV9500T with Vistax64. One one did not (Transcend 150x 4gb - although it is one of the few 4 gig cards that work on a Palm TX). The AData 4GB class 6 ($36) worked fastest. FWIW, if you set the hardware policy for the card to "optimize for performance" (as opposed to "optimize for quick removal"), you get a bit better of a write speed. Not sure readyboost is helping or hurting. Some things seem faster, others perhaps slower. I have 4 gb of ram, so I am pretty sure the boost it is minimal. Also, I run almost everything in VM's, however, the performance monitor seems to report it is helping.
