Alright so the Envy 14's have been ordered and are starting to be built... What do you think that realistic battery life of an Envy 14 will be (without the slice)?

40% brightness, wi-fi on, backlight on keyboard off, surfing internet

Well anything is honestly better than what I have now... My Dell Inspiron E1505 gets 34 minutes and cannot charge to 100% and stops a 91%....

I seriously hope that it gets up to close to what HP promises... 7 hours would be amazing... but I just dont see it happening.

    yeah.

5 hours is better than what my asus g1 gets (hour and 30 to an hour and 50ish). Hell it's better than what my g1 EVER got (3 hours)

Notebookcheck: Review Ac er Aspire 4820TG Timeli ne X Notebook

I'm basing it off the Acer 4820 TimelineX model.. they have very similar specs.. the 4820 gets 5 hours surfing the web with max brightness, using a 66Wh battery. The Envy 14 8-cell is 59Wh, but with 40% brightness that'll probably make up for the difference and some. Honestly, if the Envy 14 display is as bright as the Envy 15 display, then 40% would probably be just fine on my eyes.

However, HP is stating that it gets a max of 7 hours.. which is disconcerting, because the TimelineX can get 10 hours idling. Hmm...

I'm curious how much more battery life my 520m, 1 dimm ram, and 160gb SSD build will have compared to the other configurations.

I'm hoping 5 hours for web browsing with 75% brightness.

Screensaver? No, no, no. Sleep mode ;)

I'm crossing my fingers for 5 hours of actual usage and 8-10 with the slice.

Same internal hardware as the dm4t, but with a slightly bigger battery. I am guessing around 5.25 hours.
