Hello recently my screen became really dark , almost completely black . If you look closely u can see faint images on the screen.

So my natural reaction was to replace the screen , but that did not solve the problem. The problem stayed the same.

So that lead me to the conclusion that something is wrong with the motherboard or maybe the inverter?

But its a led screen so there is no inverter per say , so something is wrong with the motherboard. I scoured google and found that it happened to other people except on their dell inspiron laptops . And the fix was to bridge a fuse with solder.

My question is will this solve it? And where is said fuse on this laptop? I been looking at the mobo but can not find the said fuse.

EDIT: Yes i have tried a external monitor and it worked on the external monitor.

Hello, I don't have an answer as much as I do a question. But, I dropped my same laptop and the screen is doing the same thing. Did you ever find out what was wrong with it. Because, I can hook it up to a tv with an hdmi and the computer works. Also, I replaced the screen and it still is too dark to see. I contacted the people I purchased the replacement screen through and they said it could be the backlight fuse? Any information you may have would be much appreciated!

    Thank you, Augusta

To your problem this means the backlight is dead this is the common problem sometimes it is the inverter but if it was the inverter your screen would be dead or black nothing showing. But in this case if you didn't drop or mishandled your laptop then it would stand to reason the backlight is dead. Don't try to think one can replace it that is alot of work and glass blulbs are a dangerous item to work with. Just get a replacement screen on eBay that matching your LCD Part number and that will get you back in business.

For your problem I think I would first check your LCD cable to make sure it isn't damaged or inverter since you dropped it the damaged could also be on the board itself to cause the bad LCD output. So before ordering a LCD check all the other components before you think its just the LCD. Also your problem is similiar to the OP but that doesn't necessarily mean it is the same problem. It may look like it but you dropped yours so there are other factor to look into before just saying bad LCD.
