hey everyone!
just wanted to let you all know that im really pleased with my final purchase! i ended up getting the Turion ml32 v2000z nearly a month ago. My concerns of battery life and heat arent a problem at all! In fact for whatever reason the turion runs almost as cool as the Pen M in the v4000! And my battery lasts thru almost two classes of notetaking --so nearly 3 hours w/the 6 cell!
So thanks to everyone who helped me out with all my questions. I really feel that buying it at HPshopping is much better than any store. (the v2000z i got from best buy had so many defects, and this one i now have is a beauty) Plus i got it for a great deal - its was like 800 plus only 120 for a three year warrenty and yes a free 3-1 printer.
Also for those who travel alot i found this AMAZING thin black 14 inch case that is snug and has a nice handle on it and very hot i think! Its made with that memory foam material - got it from microcenter - oh man it MAKES this computer - its now functional, light, and adorable!
anyway, alright so for those who are considerng a v2000z - get it for sure and only from hp- no where else!!
Now all i need is some more RAM to juice this baby up and a nice wireless mouse, any suggestions... was looking at the logitech v200 cordless, any good? how funny.. a v200 for a v2000!?
take care guys!!

Glad to hear you like it, Radha!
For your mouse questions, I'd suggest checking out the accessories forum up in the Hardware section. -
Hi Radha. I have the Logitech V270 Bluetooth mouse... which is similar to the V200. I like it very much. No dongles/receiver to worry about... though you need to have the internal bluetooth.
If you don't have internal bluetooth, then V200 will be great too. -

Radha,
I completely agree with your V2000z assessment. I got mine last week and also love it. The Brightview screen makes a big difference when it comes to sharpening and brightening the colors.
I got an extra 512Mb RAM after and it has made a big difference. Next, I'm going to upgrade the hard disk to a higher RPM one.
Did you see Notebookreview's story on the MOGO mouse. Might wanna check it out, that is, if you have Bluetooth on your lappy:

I am really glad that you like V2000z finally. I hope you enjoy this laptop for a longtime. But again handle it carefully as it is not as tough as ThinkPad..

Thanks for the replies, im really happy with it so far.
However my Caps lock Key fell off! Goes to show the compaq quality - i'll have to send it in now.. just hope more dont fall off.
Also, im looking to add a stick of 512 MB. I only ordered the minimun 256 and its REALLY slow - any more than two programs open and it just freezes. SO if anyone knows what company/type i need to get thats compatible with the 256 then please let me know - corsair vs. kingston...? whatever of average quality at the lowest price possible. Online or instore is fine. Thanks everyone! -

Just wondering, how's the heat problem with v2000z and have you tried any games on it yet. I am planning on getting one soon but to buy 1gb ram and 7200 hdd separately. I am just a bit worried that the 7200 hdd will produce much more heat than the 5400 one.

I'm not who you asked, but I'm in the same boat, so I feel qualified to answer. I have the same machine, the V2000, got it last week. My configuration is the Turion ML30, 512 RAM, 40gb Hard Drive, Raedon X200 or whatever graphics. I've played Tony Hawk Underground 2, Doom 3 and Half Life 1. No problem. Doom 3 plays fine. I didn't check my frame rate, but I had no problems at all, ran smooth, graphics were great. I didn't like the game, but that wasn't the computers fault. Both the other games played terrific. Ran smooth, no lag or hesitation at all. I'm not a serious gamer, so it wouldn't bother me if I couldn't play the latest and greatest games. Over all, I'm very happy with this machine. I'd reccomend it to someone in a heartbeat.
edit: I'm having no heat issues. When playing a game for a while, the left palm rest gets a little warm. If I had a cooler pad, I doubt I'd even notice. When I first got it, I was using it on my lap and realized I was blocking the fan. Now I used it on a book on my lap, and it's much better. If I had one complaint, it's the keyboard. It doesn't seem as sensitive as my old Dell, but that could be me. I just have to get used to it.
Really happy with my V2000z!
