i installed the latest realtek driver on my dv6500t and now, when i touch the touch sensitive media buttons to mute the computer, it DOES mute, but the orange light doesn't come on... how can i revert back to the older driver so that when i touch the mute button, the orange light comes on?

I think you have to install the realtek driver supplied by HP from their site to get the light to work again.

    Dear lemonspeaker,

I have had the same issue too! My HDMI audio out wasn't working and I downloaded the Realtek driver to fix it. After that the mute light quit working and the Realtek icon has hidden itself from the notification area.

Have you fixed your mute light or found a way to get the light working again? I have found that the light turns on when I am signing on to my Windows account which means the light is working. Its annoying having a part of your laptop not working properly isn't it?

I HAD the same problem as you guys. I now have the latest software and the orange mute button. When you download the latest driver it first deletes the old one. Then it asks you to restart. At this point there is no driver. When it comes back up you have to find the new driver in the swsetup folder. Install it from there. This is how I resolved my problem.

I had an issue with the new Realtek driver which caused the audio to not completely switch to the headphones when I plugged them in.

So I ended up reinstalling the previous version and now it works again.
