I received my dv9700t about a month ago and my plan all along was to test out Vista to see if I liked it, and then rebuild after the decision to either XP or Vista so that I had a nice clean install. Well that time has come, and I have decided to keep Vista. Well, I began the clean install last night, and right now my goal is to have a completely clean install with all currently available updates, and then make a set of backup disks, so that the next time I want to install I can at least skip the first batch of updates.
Well anyway, everything has gone perfectly so far, and I'm in the process of installing SP1 now. My question is, which software is it that allows the mute touch button to change from blue to orange when the system is muted? The buttons work correctly, but just don't change color, and I really like having the visual. Keep in mind that I have only install AVG and drivers. No software other than Vista.
Thanks for your help.
SOLVED: Install the Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver
-
I think you need HP QuickPlay, but I'm not 100% sure.
-
That was my first guess, but before I rebuilt, I disabled the QuickPlay service so that the Snipping Tool would load quickly (apparently there is a conflict). Maybe it's another part of QuickPlay that does the light and is not part of the service.
Thanks -
-
Glad that I don't need to install QuickPlay though. -
i'm having the same problem, although i installed the realtek drivers, they seem to have no change, and the contexant drivers fail to install
-
-
well, i'm pretty sure it's the conexant drivers, but they keep "failing" to install.
-
Install the QuickPlay software (QPW folder under SWsetup) and the QuickPlay Button Drivers (QLB folder under SWsetup) to get the buttons to work correctly and change colors. To get the on screen display of the volume, install HP QuickTouch Software from the HP website under Software - Solutions at the Software & Driver downloads page.
-
-
the onscreen thing lags, and doesnt go away for about a minute, really lame while playing a game
-
If you don't like quickplay and just want the volume and mute button to work then just install the QuickPlay Button Drivers (QLB folder under SWsetup). Just installing those drivers will make the mute button change colors from blue to orange. I just uninstalled quickplay and the mute button still turns orange. -
-
I just did a clean install. I am definately sure that sound drivers is what controlls the lights
Tested it myself. plus i havent even installed Quickplay or QLB yet. Currently im using Conexant v4.19 -
I had the long lags with the onscreen display related to the QuickPlay Volume Buttons...(I sent the computer back for an exchange so that I'd get another 21 days to evaluate).
Someone at HP has got to figure out what is going on with this lagging problem. I see the suggestion to disable the onscreen display (not a terrible solution if it works)...but it should just WORK.
I have tried reporting this to HP, and there are other threads, including mine, on this topic.

I wonder if the problem occurs after a certain software update downloads. (mine worked out of the box and after a system recovery)
How can we get HP to fix it? -
Thanks for everyone's help. Installing the Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver did the trick.
Thanks again. -
-
Anyway, since I was having this issue, I just downloaded the driver from HP's website, and installed them on top of what I currently had installed. -
for me, the realtek drivers produced crappy sound quality and did not fix my problem, and the conexant drivers fail to install
-
-
that's odd, when I installed the realtek drivers the lights stayed blue
-
-
yeah, i didnt save my swsetup folder, i also downloaded it twice, and then an hp chat person said to download UAA drivers, and linked me to em but they also didnt install.

you should have a conexant audio card... which version driver did you try??
give v4.19 a try -
could you link me?
-
[EDIT]
wait a min.... you shouldnt have to mess with UAA if you have Vista..
just uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers
conexant:

realtek:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3652825&dlc=en
only install ONE of these drivers... but first determine what sound card you actually have. -
I've done that multiple times. but the color of the button doesnt change from blue to orange
-
I pulled my driver from Realtek's site. Buttons change with that one.
