They just delivered my new HP DV2500t, so if anyone has any specific questions don't hesitate to ask. This unit is replacing my Original DV2000t with an Intel Core Duo 1.83.
My order Configuration:
DV2500t
2.0 Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB Memory
120GB HD
8x DVD+- DL
Bluetooth 2.0
Intel A/B/G/Pre-N Wireless
Fingerprint Reader
So Far my first impression are the machine runs much faster and the fans don't kick in as much(not to mention quieter.) The fit in finish is not as good as the original DV2000t, The screen does not sit flush to the unit (the left side does not lay flat) I like the old Micro Finish better, than the swirl/circle finish. The buttons on the Touchpad are a major improvement over the DV2000t, they are not mushy and don't travel as far down.
The Web Cam is not 1.3MP it is 640 x 480 only, which sucks, when I ordered the laptop it specifically stated that it was a 1.3MP Camera.
I have not has a chance to use the Fingerprint Reader, but it uses the Verisoft Manager Software.
The screen has Zero defect, not dead/stuck pixels and it bright and crisp.
The keyboard does not lay flat, it actually raised slightly from left to right. But the actual keys are a little more stiff than the original DV2000t.
I will add more later.

g0t pics?
-
pics please
and what kind of monitor did u get on this one?
-
Hmm. Sounds like this unit has some quality control issues (aside from the improvements).
Are there any games that you ran on your dv2000t that you will try on the dv2500t? I'm curious about the real world performance of the X3100 over the 950 (even on old games). -
I don;t have a digital camera at work, but will take some pictures later. Overall I would agree that the overall build quality of the DV2500t is NOT as good as the DV2000t.
-
The Fingerprint reader is cool(Nice Software), but I am not sure it will work with Firefox which is my browser of choice.
-
bad news it seems! but still some quality pics would be nice, havent seen the new look up close myself (they STILL sell Dell with XP only!)
-
firstly congrats on ur new purchase
i bet ur njoing it
well the first few units will always have its defects
hopefully hp will fix this soon enough
you could try running some synthtic benchmarks as well as realtime
ones such as games and post the results
as im sure many are looking forward to benchmarks as of now
pictures of hps new swirl finish and the defects wold also help everyone alot
cheers and thanks
and once again enjoy your laptop -
Does it still comes with a built in remote control?
-
Could you please comment on which size battery (6 cell, enhanced 6 cell, or 12 cell) you have and the battery life you are getting? In the review link below they state they got 2 hours and 50 minutes from watching a DVD and using the 12 cell battery pack.
http://computershopper.com/reviews/hp_pavilion_dv2500t_laptop_review -
i just purchase mine yesterday.
Pics of the old and the new design of swirls would be nice
With the screen not being flush or w/e external defect couldn't u complain to hp and have them fix that problem i would hate for mine to be like that..
Is there a noise problem like the past models with the high pitch ringing/buzz ?? -
You cant just tell us you got your new dv2500t without posting pics! Thats just mean!
-
even though i should be getting my 6500t delivered this monday, i couldn't resist and checked out the one at Costco today. i'm not sure i like the swirl things all that much. i wonder why they had to go and add that in. other than that, the build seemed to be no worse than the 6000t. maybe i didn't scrutinize enough though. i wasn't looking all that long. however, i noticed the touchpad buttons weren't as spongy, which i like.
-
can someone post the swirls from the old and new to see the diff?
-
docangle, have you been able to test out the wireless? Has the Centrino update given the wireless capabilities a good boost? Some general benchmarks on the new Santa Rose system would also be awesome.
It's good to hear that you're noticing a speed boost.
)
-
yes! i want to see the new design. also, can u check the mic for me - to see if they fixed the faint recording volume issue?
-
ahhh come on; pictures, videos, anything to see what the new lappy is like!!! docangle you are so cruel...
-
1- cpu noise ?????????????????
2-Windows Experience Index -
Okay I'll try and answer as many questions as I can:
I do hear a slight noise coming from the speakers, I am not sure if this i the CPU noise that others have complained about. It is not very loud, unlike the original CPU noise with the original DV2000t before a BIOS update fixed that problem.
The Mics do seem to be much better on the DV2500t, the DV2000t they were useless.
The fans do not come on as much on the DV2500t, they were constant with the DV2000t and Vista.
I got 2 hours and 20 minutes of battery life with the 6 Cell Battery on its first charge, the battery life should go up after a couple of charges. I also got the 12 Cell battery but have yet to put it to the test. I am using the 'Power Savings' settings in Vista, and I have both Bluetooth and WIFI enabled. My DV2000t would only be able to get 1:45 minutes with the same setup, so I do feel as though the Santa Rosa Chipset does improve the battery life. -
Pictures, I hope I am doing this right:

Yeah.. please post the details of Windows Experience Index.
That will clearly give an idea about the Hardware Capabilities.
There is a post by some guy on NotebookReview about a software that can test the dual-core capabilities of the processor. He also says its better than Super PI results.. These benchmarks can give us the idea about performance
..
2.2hrs on a brand new battery is pretty good. It should improve in due course of time. -
from the pic
i see you have vista BASIC
why its not Premium ? -
I actually ordered it with Vista Basic, because I had a free version of Windows Vista Ultimate I won at a Microsoft Event, so I did not want to waste the money getting Premium Pre-installed. I always do a clean install anyways to get rid of the junk.
-
The Windows Experience Index is:
Processor: 4.8
Memory: 4.8
Graphics 3.4
Gaming Graphics: 3.5
Primary HD: 4.5
The Windows Experience Index : 3.4
The DV2000t Index was 3.1 -
The Wifi range is really good. I have the new Airport Express (Pre-N) at home and I am getting close to 280MBPS, which is better than my Mac Pro with Pre-N. The range is great, about the same or even better than the DV2000t, I am not sure if HP is using 2 or 3 antennas.
-
I just used the WebCam with QuickPlay, and even though the Camera is only 640x480 now instead of 1.3MP, the video quality is so much better, and the sound is definitely louder than the DV2000t.
-
The Quicklaunch Button sounds are a little strange on the DV2500t, it seems as though the sound is generated from the Quicklaunch button software, and not from hardware like the DV2000t. when you hit the volume up the click noises will actually get louder and when you press the Volume Down the click noise will get softer. But you also sometimes get a delay between the button press and the sound being emitted.
Also what is a weird bug, is that when you are connected to the XB3000 expansion base, the Volume Up/Down will emit the new button click sound, but when you press the Mute button(on the XB3000) you get the old Click Sound.
The Spindles in the machine are:
HD: Fujitsu MHV2120BH 120GB HD
DVD+-R: Mat****a DVD-RAM UJ-8505
Also I did receive the PC Express Card Remote Control, which comes standard with the the DV2500t(no more $14.95 option) The remote background color is Black and has a Windows Media Button on the Top Right. -
Graphics 3.4
Gaming Graphics: 3.5
its better than GO 7400 and 7300 -
thanks for the pics
though the swirl design is intresting i personally like the piano black along with the imprint finish earlier maybe its just the pics
well either way i cant be so sure till i see one in person which wil take some time as the x500 series havent yet reached dubai -
yeah the black design looks nicer but this one is still quite good. no doubt HP are trying to draw more attention by adding more youth-ish styling to their notebooks
shaheenarshan, don't hold your breath! it took dubai ages to get the C2D notebooks and have u seen any Dell notebooks with Vista yet? I went to plugins a few days back and all they had were XP systems. HP did have Vista I think though -
dell notebooks are quite rare and yes the dells at plugins still have vista the ones at DCC ( deira city centre) but the jackys and the carrefour store there have HPs mostly with vista installed which is quite good to look at
and is better eye candy than the dells
this is one of the reasons i will be visiting cebit in istanbul in OCT to buy my new asus rather than waiting for them here -
Nice notebook! From the pics it looks like the finish is a grey. Is it still black or did they change it to a grey? Also, does it leave fingerprints like the dv2000t?
-
hmm I guess i gotta get use to the new design.. I might be missing it but where is the spot where it isn't flush ??
-
-
Hmm... I looked at the HP web site and the pics they have there make the case look black. If I ordered one of these and it came to me as that shade of gray it would go right back!
-
yeah, im pretty sure its black.
thanks for letting me know how the mic is! i also have a question, did you get the lightscribe option - as to i didnt see the sticker on ur laptop (if u did, i was wonderin if they got rid of that sticker)
so far, this laptop looks impressive and i am looking forward to swtich out this garbage dv2000t they sent me. the fan is a huge issue for me (my battery life sucks with a 12 cell battery), as well as the crappy mic and the SEC screen.
can you check the monitor you got?
and ahh! why cant hp put up the dedicated GPU already! -
And what is the battery life (especially on 6 cell high capacity)? Can you do some test?
-
Dang, that looks nice. Good purchase!
I'm getting impatient for them to add the 8400 so I can buy mine -
Those pictures make the top look grey/blue. I do hope they kept the pinao black finish otherwise i'm going to return my dv6500t which is due to arrive this week.
-
hello all i just have 1 question i want to order 95000t i wanted to know if i order it from the hp site the HP Imprint (Radiance) + Fingerprint Reader +Webcam will it comes with a mic ??? -
-
thanks 4 da help
-
Yes, All DV2500t, DV6500t and DV9500t's come with dual mics.
The camera did overexpose the picture, the finish colors are the exact same as the DV200t, Same Blacks and Grey's, only the micro-pattern has changed.
I will try to do further battery testing today. -
Please install and benchmark Oblivion and/or FEAR or an equivalent game. I'm curious to know more about the X1300.
-
is there an option to change what the quick play button loads up like the dv2000's when they had XP
-
i ran 03 and got a score of 2500 for the GeForce Go 7200. the X3100 gets around 1700-1900.
much more info and links about X3100 performance here:
http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1031037952 -
The screen type is 'QDS' it has good color saturation and excellent viewing angles. The screen is fairly bright, but not washed out.
-
nice! can you do me a favor and do a check up on the quick play button customization, and let me know if you got the lightscribe optin or not. other than that, this laptop sounds like a great upgrade
-
I did not get the Lightscribe drive, I have it on the DV2000t and used it once, it talkes way to long to etch the image, and the discs are more expensive.
The Quicklaunch buttons are NOT customizable on this unit. It ships with QuickLaunch 6.20 B1 (I wonder if B1 is Beta 1, great ship a Laptop with Beta Software) It does not even have the Onscreen Volume Level like the latest XP release. -
I think that new design looks better, in my opinion. Voodoo played a roll in that design, I'm sure.
