I'm the proud new owner of a HP Elitebook 2530p and like the machine pretty much. But I have one problem and I would like to hear your advice:

After I active the system (it was a fresh install, so I guess they did just some power on checks when they got the machine) I found out, that it was actived before in 11/2008. Although it looks and feels new I'm a little bit unsure if this might be a disadvantage.

Did HP improved anything in the current 2530p line over the past months?

Would it mean anything bad for the battery (although not connected to the notebook) if it was unused for several months?

    Thanks in advance!

Charge the battery fully, then discharge it (ensure system doesn't hibernate/standby, but simply cuts out when battery is flat), charge again. Check the battery wear against the manufacturer spec to determine what wear, if any, it has. Something that can deteriote over time depending on how it is stored.

If it was previously registered by another user then it would be a refurb/2nd hand unit. If paying "new" price I'd suggest requesting some financial recourse. Might be able to pickup some details using HP Warranty Checker.

Only change I can see with a newer 2530P is they've added a SL9600-2.13 model since that CPU was only recently released by Intel.
