I own a zd7000 which has the graphics card design error (cost ~$2300 new with all options)...somehow I missed the deadline on the class action lawsuit so I approached HP to have the matter resolved. After several attempts and to make matters breif - HP told me there is nothing they can do about it - probably for legal reasons - and I was out of luck. I told them prior to this if the matter was not resolved satisfactorily I would never buy from HP again. As such I am posting this on this forum and while they probably make a quality product because of their poor support in this matter I am also encouraging others to not purchase from HP either. I don't think they deserve our business certainly not mine.

With due respect to HP fans...

To each their own. Good luck with the laptop and I hope it works out for you.

Each case is unique. In some cases it is resolved in favor of the consumer and others it isn't. Your case has been dually noted by a lot of people here. You shouldn't discourage others from buying HP computers, but instead educating them on what to do and what not to do. I'm sorry about how your case turned out, but there is a reason why they created the extended warranty plans.

Dito. I am shipping my dv9000T in for graphics/motherboard burnout and picked up a little Gateway for use till the HP gets repaired. I'll tell ya I love this thing. I think the dv9000 will be my last HP product. Although I am digging the dv7t.

You just have to factor in product support with everything else when deciding on a laptop. Most people who deal with HP say that their product support is horrible, though I suspect the people with positive experiences are less likely to jump on and start posting about it. I decided on HP because everything else I read outweighed the poor support. I understand that if something goes wrong with this laptop, I am probably going to be in for some frustration when dealing with HP about it. Its a sacrifice I was willing to make for a quality product at a lower price.

That was caused by the nvidia 5600fx it had running to hot not hp's fault nvidias cards ran hot. Well they could have cooled it better but iv never had a problem with coustomer support they have replaced both my desktop and my laptop with better ones for free due to taking to long and i cannot complain. Just get a case manager they are only in america and they understand you.
