Hey I was wondering how exactly one can record TV on the HDX16t, I didn't buy the internal tv tuner and i thought I could just connect the hdmi cable from my direct tv to my laptop and do it that way, but I can't seem to get that to work. What would be the best way to go about doing this? HP had a usb thing on their website that lets' u used the old fashion cord way of doing it. Do I need to buy that?

I'm pretty sure you cannot record via the HDMI to your laptop since your laptop will only accept a signal via a built-in or external tuner.

Your best bet would be to purchase an aftermarket tv tuner, then let Windows Media Center (available with Premium and Ultimate) handle the rest for you automatically (once configured). It certainly would be the most expeditious and less cumbersome route to take. At least that's what I intend to do.

Once I get the tuner set up I'll try and put up a thread to let you know how well it works.
