I have a dv2000 and I changed the OS from Vista to XP. Now the problem is that I lost my recovery discs. Fortunately, I left my recovery partition in tact.
I am told that all I have to do is set the Recovery Partition (D :) to active and when I re-boot, it will take me to the HP Recovery screen. The problem is, you can only set a "Primary" partition Active. My D :(Recovery Partition) is set as "Logical" partition.

My question is, how do you change a partition from logical to primary?

    PLS HELP!!!

You can't enter the recovery partition with F10 or whatnot?

You should be able to go to Advanced Boot Options, whatever key it is, and select to repair the computer with the Recovery Partition.

How do you get to Advanced Boot Options. I tried F8 and there is no option for Advanced Boot.

Well, you could always try other ones until you get it! :D
Or just call up HP and ask.
