    Hi!
I've been reading here and there that if you set the recovery Partition as active you can boot at it and make a recover.
My question is: if I do this (boot the recovery partition, without recovering anything), will I loose data on my HDD, or it will just boot to the recovery manager, without changing anything?
I need to create the recovery disks, but I cannot access the F11 function on boot anymore, nor I can use the recovery Manager program (it says the Recovery partition could not be found).
The Recovery partition is here, untouched, but I've messed with my MBR.
So, can I create the recovery discs using the method above?

    Thanks a lot!

I don't think you can make CDs/DVDs using the recovery partition, it has to be done through Windows. Booting the recovery partition will not start a recovery, it will only boot the recovery system.

Well, when I first contacted HP's support, the lady told me to try to create the discs set using the F11 key on boot.
    I'm a little afraid, tough...

You won't accidentally format your laptop by using F11 or booting the recovery partition. Wether you'll be able to create recovery disks could be another matter, I'd check for you but I actually erased my recovery partition. I used the DVDs for the first time the other day and they worked fine.

ok. I've tried. And I really cannot create the DVDs this way. What a shame.
HP's support cannot get the create recovery discs program to work for me. They say I have to buy the DVDs.
I can boot the Recovery partition, but I cannot create the disks from there, there is no "Recovery Discs creation" option.
I'll call them again tomorrow. If I get something, I'll post here. Maybe someone could benefit from the info, too.
    Anyway, thanks again!

There is no way of creating the discs from booting to the recovery partition. All you can do from there is recover the whole system to the factory settings.
So, if you screw up with your HDD's MBR, you have to buy the recovery discs from HP. The stupid part is that if you live outside the US they cannot send it to you. It's amazing...

Well, my problem is that the Recovery Manager says "recovery partition not found", but I'll try this trick :)
    Thanks a lot!
