    Hi guys/gals.

I just did a search but I must be obviously using the wrong term.

Seems to me a long while back there was an instruction on how to use Vista & no 3rd party app to merge the recovery partion to the main partion.

I did it once & now that I need to do it again after I got my notebook back from HP who did full reinstall, I cannot find the instruction.

Anyone here remember it, or know what I'm talking about?

    Thanks.

why not make some recovery disk then use recovery manager to delete your recovery partition . the size of the recovery partition will then be added to your c drive.

or better still install all your programs you use and when you have your notebook just how you like it use acronis true image to backup your drive.
its a great peice of software and to be honest something i wish i had been using a long time now . it would have saved me endless head aches.

ps if you do go with the true image option my advise is also make your recovery disk 1st then delete the recovery position. im led to believe true image has problems with the hp recovery partitions .

im sure someone else could clarify that

I prefer the recovery partition because it's easier and faster to reformat. All I do is hit f11 or f12 whichever then hit next a few times and bam. I don't have to worry about changing disks or hitting ok for anything. I can just sit back, relax and stare at the ceiling. Dream come true...

The tool in Vista that you are looking for is in:

    Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management

This allows you to manipulate the partitions, i.e. delete, resize, etc.

    Thanks.

I've been there but just now after reading your reply & know I was in the right place I figured out how to reclaim the extra 8 GB!
