So sure enough, I go to do a minimum system image and Recovery Manager isn't even installed on this notebook. I had to order recovery disks from hp. In the meantime, how do I go about doing a minimum system image because I don't even see that option. Is it even available anymore? F#$%--I was really looking forward to removing all the bloat/crap off this thing--93 processes running! Anyone else with the same problem.
Thanks again for the info--much appreciated.

That minimal feature was added with an update to recovery manager, you "may" have to use recovery discs to get all the partitions and everything restored properly, once in Windows use HP Support Assistant to update all the HP software, look for the HP Recovery Manager update, this will add the minimal feature to the recovery partition, then you can do a minimal install using F11 or firing off Restore Manager in Windows.
It is possible the restore discs from HP will have this minimal option when you boot from the 1st disc, not sure if they have updated the media they send out. -
The MSI should be in there with any of the new Pavilions. At least it is with my dv6tqe-6000. I know I can use it with the recovery disk/flash drive I created. HP Recovery Manager and the MSI can be used straight off of my flashdrive (Esc>boot options). As long as you created those restore disks, I do not believe you necessarily have to rely on the recovery partition. Of course, I also save my C:\SwSetup folder, so even after the MSI, I know I can access anything else I want, app-wise.
I thought I read somewhere that even if you do a minimum install, the HP Recovery Manager is installed as well. Is that true? -
Thanks guys. I ordered the recovery disks from hp so hopefully that feature is available from the discs.
Recovery Manager--missing?
