well i own a compaq presario cq50z and instead of installing/buying the disk (without license for clean install) in the PRESARIO_RP(D :) drive on the hard drive disk in the computer window, it says Recovery under it, i was woundering if it was a full recovery (erasing EVERYTHING off my harddrive and then putting the factory settings back on) would it do that? if you need specs (because i under stand that certain gb hdd's only have full install on recovery, if anyone knows for sure, please tell me

Ok easy now. Take a deep breath and relax. Punctuation, periods, commas, and brief, concise sentences ARE your friends because they help to communicate.

If you are asking: Will Recovery restore my computer to it's original state, including the Recovery partition itself, the answer is yes. Probably. I only inserted that to cover my butt. I just removed the partition and formatted the entire hard drive on my Presario, and (later) running Recovery Disks restored all of it including the Recovery partition.

If that isn't what you are asking, that isn't my answer.

well that sorta, my question is that if i click "F1" in the boot up which is the recovery partition. will it restore my computer to factory settings, meaning it will delete everything?

If you run recovery it will delete everything. That is my understanding, and that is what it did on my computer (CQ60-214DX). This opinion is worth what you paid for it, but that is my experience.

I dont know if F1 during boot will start recovery though. I think on my computer it was F11, but I dont know about yours.

well all i know during boot it said F1 or maybe it was F11 not sure, either one i can try both
so after i use the recovery partition i will have nothing on my laptop from before, i cant access that memory at all, its gone forever? and i can only access the new data?

also i was wondering if all my internet data (firefox/internet explorer) like history and cookies will be deleted if i went to the tools option and deleted all the cookies and history, if that would still show up because when ppl use my computer i delete the history i hate websites in my favorites and stuff that i dont use

For all practical purposes, its an yes to both questions. Your cookies or data wont show up after it has been deleted but to a certain extent there are ways to recover deleted data from the HDD.
