    Hi,
I have a new dv9500t and I'm trying to burn a recovery disc through Recovery Manager. I've tried CD's & DVD's both get an error of 'The disc you inserted is not blank. Insert a blank disc and close the drive tray.'
I have successfully burned cd's & dvd's using drag & drop. I can read and open the files on the cd/dvd.
So why can't I burn a set of restore disc? I do have a HP supplied System Recovery DVD, but I've read that there was a bad batch, so I don't want to risk it when I do a clean install.
Any suggestions on getting Recovery Manager to recognize the dvds?

If you're using DVD-R's to burn the recovery CD's then this could be the culprit as flipfire said. Don't know why but HP/Compaq prefers +R types.

    Hi,

I suggest downloading the HP recovery manager software update and you problem should be solved. I was getting an error while burning my second DVD and I just updated my software and it worked.

Also I have used DVD-Rs to burn my recovery disks and have found no problems with them.

Also try a different brand of DVD's. DVD-R works fine with the recovery software. Infact as gr81 mentioned all my restore discs are in the DVD-R format.

Honestly, if you can move your SWSETUP folder to another computer, and then burn it to DVD using Nero, you're good to go.

Once you do that, you can reformat the drive and start over. The recovery partition probably won't work, many have reported it doesn't work when they try to restore their machine.

So the complete reformat, and reload of XP and Vista is a good choice. If the guides are too complicated, then find a friend who can help you do it.

The DV9500T is basically the same as the DV6500T and DV2500T.

How do I update the recovery manager software?
