I have burned the recovery DVDs, and also a backup of the SWSetup folder.
I went into the manual on the computer about removing the partition. They say...
To delete the recovery partition:
1. If you have not already created recovery discs, create them now.
2. Select Start > All Programs > System Recovery > PC Recovery.
The PC Recovery tool opens.
3. Select PC Recovery and click Next.
The computer restarts and the PC Recovery tools opens.
4. Click OK.
5. At the System Recovery screen, click Advanced Options.
6. Select Delete Recovery Partition (not recommended) and follow the on-screen instructions.
Is this the best way to do it?
Thoughts?

The partition is like a backup if your recovery discs gets messed up or unavailable. Just press f11 to do a complete restore from the partition. It only resides on 10gb of HD space. If you still have lots of HD space then don't delete. If you're running out of space then go ahead and delete. Make sure you make a copy of the backup copies just in case. To restore the HD it will take at least 3 hours!

If you delete recovery partition, you will lose QuickPlay Instant-On feature (= that multi-media interface enabling you to play DVDs/CDs without turning on the whole laptop).

As far as I remember no; it was written in the guide of the laptop. You should better ask the HP Support guys.

If you are using XP then you can delete the restore partition. If Quickplay does not boot after this then use the HP quikplay restore package to restore the Quickplay boot...
